"If America forgets where she came from, if the people lose sight of what brought them along, if she listens to the deniers and mockers, then will begin the rot and dissolution."

-Carl Sandburg (1878-1967)

Soviets Outline US School Curriculum in 1971...

While researching a novel I found a Soviet document on our Library of Congress website: It fit nicely into the plot for Educating Finn Larkin.... It fit nicely into the Leftist curriculum adopted on most college campuses after the 1960s.

Exposing Imperialist Policies is dated January 21, 1971 and it lists events in U.S. History...from a Marxist perspective. Moscow wanted to stress these events in order to "force our ideological enemy [The USA] onto disadvantageous paths in the ideological struggle."

I've enjoyed the study of history all my life to include graduate school. When I first read this list in 2006 I understood that generations of American school kids have learned much of their American History from a man named A. Takovlev (I wonder if he's still alive). He was Assistant Chief of the Propaganda Department and sent "Attachment 170 Calendar of Certain Events" to the Central Committee in 1971 for their review.

You can review this document almost 40 years after the Central Committee did and then review the textbooks in your local schools or college courses. And then think waaaayy back to see if you're historical education came from Moscow...

Cold War Veterans Recognition Day...Today???

Holy slap in the face, Batman. The US Congress has voted to pass Cold War Veterans Recognition Day, right in the middle of a session in which they might vote to fundamentally transform Washington into Moscow. Go figure...

Sincerely,

How Will America Sleep Tonight?

It all (and I mean everything) depends on how Congress slept last night. If 216 of them woke up on their Far-Left side this morning we will be...fundamentally transformed. We'll be sleepless in Seattle...well, maybe not in Seattle, but Americans will sleep less elsewhere. Hollywood will probably sleep well tonight, but they've supported Marxism since Che was a pup. Too many university faculties will sleep like babies: On Monday they'll continue to teach students that government can bring America the best sleep, food, jobs, health care, morals, parenting skills. Too many students will learn that the the government can provide everything...and will whether they like it or not, under penalty of the IRS. And too many students will grow into adulthood never knowing what America could be like, if only the government didn't provide everything....

I'm one of those generically guilt-ridden souls and that robs me of sleep. I think I could have done something more, something to help others pass on our traditional America. I should be excited to give my daughter what my parents gave me-what the Founders gave us all. Instead, I'm ashamed to have watched her future crumble, rather, that I've simply watched an ideology crumble her future. She might grow up to learn first hand what our Congress doesn't know: That like good and evil, capitalism creates and communism destroys. Does it really matter why? The sun rises in the east, sets in the west and further debate won't change that... Of course, we were forced to debate whether the sun or man makes the earth cooler and warmer until a hoax was uncovered, hmmm.... Can we debate the proven failures of communism some more or have our leaders decided it's just fine for America? I believe the majority of Americans will accept communism only when the sun rises over the Santa Monica Pier and sets on the Hudson.

Who slept better, historically speaking? Soviet citizens who had survived their government, or American citizens who had created their government? I know the Chinese now make all of our sleepwear, but who sleeps better...Americans who can change their government or Chinese who can only change the diaper of one baby before aborting any others. Do Cubans sleep better in Miami or Havana?

While I wasn't sleeping last night I composed a mental list of communist milestones during my lifetime, then I shortened it to my personal experience with communism, but that will be a future post...I have to wait for congress to see whether my last personal experience with communism was in 1990s Europe, or will it be here in my daughter's America, on 3/21/2010.

Remembering George and Joe

George led a movement that has affected millions around the world, as did Joe. George and Joe are long gone, George more so than Joe. The former's birthday is remembered fondly, but not officially. The latter was denounced officially, but not in life.

George was responsible for the deaths of thousands--invaders and tyrants all. Joe ordered that millions should die--farmers and teachers and all others who opposed Joe's cumbersome ideology. Ideology was simple for George and harmless to his fellow countrymen-freedom.

For centuries now generations have prayed for the return of a man like George Washington...

Almost ten years after Joseph Stalin died Yevgeni Yevtushenko published a poem in the communist party newspaper: Heirs of Stalin ends this way...

Grimly clenching his embalmed fists, just pretending to be dead, he
watched from inside. He was scheming. He had merely dozed off.

And I, appealing to our government, petition them to double, and
treble, the sentries guarding the slab, and stop Stalin from ever rising
again.

Those words were published in 1962, about the time Ronald Reagan warned the American people against socialized, government-controlled health care: Reagan would switch his party allegiance from Democrat to Republican that same year.

Ronald Reagan is as close to George Washington as we have come...

Barrack Obama is as close to Joseph Stalin as we want to get...
