And The Slaps Just Keep On Coming
Perhaps we should consider the real effects of being slapped in the face so often and so hard by our leaders. Remember the Three Stooges? Moe would pull that flat hand out of nowhere and find Larry, Curly, Curly Joe or Shemp in a flash. And the sound...SLAP! Currently our leaders are Moe and lately the rest of us have just been Stooges. Let's review...
- During the campaign a candidate told us of his plan to spread the wealth around as if that was just another option for America's future-SLAP!
- During the campaign organizations in support of that candidate used federal dollars to overload the voter roles with fake registrations-SLAP!
- During the inauguration of that winning candidate a black preacher hoped America's yellows would be mellow...that America's whites would do what's right-SLAP!
- Our Attorney General calls all of us cowards when it comes to race, then he fears prosecuting Black Panthers who intimidate voters and promote the killing of crackers and their babies-SLAP!
- During European and Middle East tours, our president apologizes for American History; not the shoddy place it has in our schools, but for our ancestors deeds-SLAP!
- After he took office our president quickly removed a bust of Winston Churchill from the White House. Churchill was half-American and half-British; a man who celebrated America's freedom, now removed to England by a man who apologizes for America-SLAP!
- When the Honduran leadership successfully fought off a bid for a dictatorship in Central America, our White House sided with the dictator wannabe-SLAP!
- On the anniversary of WWII, when the Nazis invaded Poland, our new president abandons the defense of Poland-SLAP!
- Our Homeland Security Leader describes our veterans as extremists-SLAP!
- On the same day they pass the Mysterious but Recognizably Socialist Health Care Bill, Congress officially recognizes Cold War Veterans--the ones who served so we would not become a Socialist state-SLAP!
- When America needs stability to thrive Congress passes bills they did not write or read and they tell America to "wait and see what's in it" before making a judgment-SLAP!
- People buy gold as a defensive measure against monetary policy, then congress tells us in the health care bill-after they passed it of course-that the buying a selling of gold will be heavily taxed-SLAP!
- Congress passes financial reform that ignores the cause of our financial collapse-SLAP!
- Our president signs the Big Government, Big Brother Financial Reform act in a building named in honor Ronald Reagan-SLAP! SLAP! SLAP!
- Our president and others sue Arizona for defending itself-SLAP!

Couple Corrections for Glenn Beck's Program Today
Beck has less than sixty minutes per show and it seems lately he's trying to read in a short time what I've been reading since the 2004 election worried me. That's when I started researching my novel, a story based on a single question: "If a WWII soldier had been isolated for sixty years and came back before the 2004 election, who would he vote for?" Of course it occurred to me that the old GI would need an education of some sort, so the question changed to: "How would you teach history to a WWII GI who has been isolated since 1944?" The title changed from Mister Crusoe Votes to Educating Finn Larkin. And then Ronald Reagan died during my initial plotting stages, so the novel no longer starts on Memorial Day, but the day Ronald Reagan dies, June 5, 2004...of course it's June 6 for Finn Larkin because his island is west of the International Dateline...but that's not an issue until Chapter Five, when elderly pirates with Soviet-made pistols attack the yacht taking Finn home and...

Daddy, I Love Your Soldiers
Today I attached a flag pole to display the Stars and Stripes. I’d planned to include my four-year old—we’ve been discussing Memorial Day and the soldiers who gave, and give, us freedom. Morning plans morphed into other activities and I put the flag up with my daughter busy inside the house. She saw it immediately and pounded on a window to congratulate her dad on a job well done.
Just a few minutes ago she looked out the window and said, “Daddy, I love your soldiers. They can beat all the big monsters…”
I told her they were all of our soldiers and, “That’s why we put the flag up—”
“I didn’t put the flag up,” she said, “…I was eating chocolate chip cookies.”
Politicians, did you hear how not to take credit for something that you didn’t do? Did you feel the honesty and affection and confidence in those little sentences? Did you hear a love of country in a four-year-old? Textbook publishers, is it okay that she understands America is exceptional before she learns about a multitude of other cultures?
Politicians and educationalists alike, you must understand that the fundamentally transformative cultures you wish upon my daughter had to be saved from all the big monsters of the 20th century…by the soldiers my daughter loves…by all of our soldiers.
Remember to consider this, today of all days; that if you make us what the others have been, who will save my daughter from all the big monsters of the 21st century?

Tired with Political Correctness
My Volkswagen camper is 20 years old and I live in a university town. Oh, how many Fellow Travelers are disappointed when they come up to tailgate, expecting the bumper to bash Bush (either one) or support Socialism. Alas, the Hippie Van sports only a small American Legion Support Our Troops ribbon. I plan to affix a FairTax.org sticker to the window after the next washing. Did I mention there’s an American Flag tucked inside the rear left window, in front of the curtain?
It’s the tires that have me fretting over the Mystery Machine (our 4-yr-old renamed what I had dubbed Speedbuggie—she said it was facetious to call it Speedbuggie…OK, she will say stuff like that some day). Back to the tires: I had purchased a forgotten brand a long time ago in a land far, far, away; it was Texas hot today here in Florida so I decided to inspect my sidewalls after I stopped for an Arizona Ice Tea to show my support for the New Yorkers who make it.
I got low to behold the brand name and lo and behold I’m driving around in public, mind you, on Arizonian Silver Edition; P21575R15, I think, I don’t know, I panicked. I climbed in and sped away. Well, slower than most cars speed away, but fast enough to keep my tires rolling so no one could tell Arizonians are supporting me as I support Arizonians. When the guy in the next lane had an Obama bumper sticker (We all know he doesn't support Arizonians…or Floridians…or Alabamians…) I almost ran a red light so he couldn't read my sidewalls—but I knew I’d never make it, so I stopped far to his rear: He also wanted to Free Tibet and [His] Other Car Was a Bicycle. What if someone else should get close enough to see I wasn't boycotting everything Arizonian—to include their tires? I wonder what state they are made in...do they still make them? Should I chance vengeance on my Volkswagen for a discontinued brand?
I thank God they aren't raised white letters standing out for people to see from a distance. Speaking of which…what would happen if I bolted a 7-ft cross on the luggage rack and parked the Mystery Machine over by the College of Education and Diversity and Multiculturalism and Ethnic Studies? I think someone would steal the cross, smash the window to remove the American flag and slash the Arizonians…and then they would go on to graduate next year and teach your grand kids the values of Washington D.C. over George Washington’s values.
So anyway, I made it home safely today and will plant a cactus under my flag tomorrow to show my support for Arizona, right after I replace my tires…hey, my daughter rides in the Mystery Machine every day.
If an entire girl’s softball team is in danger by traveling to Arizona, surely traveling on four Arizonians could be deadly. (In reality these are great tires, but we’re talking multiculturalism here, which trumps reality every time in a university town.)
Maybe I’ll replace them with B.F.Goodrich—wait a minute…those same people and presidents who don’t support Arizonians—they’re also trying to wipe out the Goodrich among us…

The 5th of May God Bless America & Other Holidays
So, how was your holiday? We stayed home this year for The 5th of May God Bless America. We grilled pork and watched cable as politicians, foreigners, and educators try to destroy America. When I dropped the boy off at school this morning I was going to wear my Tea Party t-shirt adorned with the American Flag…but they only had XL available that day. My goal is to fit into my red, white and blue Tea-Shirt by Memorial Day.
Memorial Day is coming up fast…we’ll have to check with local “authorities” to see if the kids can wear their American Flag t-shirts to school. Their grandfather served Old Glory for 36 years: He started out in the Army Air Corps killing real Nazis over Europe and ended up a Colonel in the Air Force bombing foreign Communists in Vietnam. He lived and died (and killed) with the idea that the American Flag would be allowed in American schools—any day of the year. Someday we’ll visit his gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery so his granddaughter can recite the Pledge of Allegiance for him—it’s a stirring rendition, but I may be biased.
Speaking of bias—can we show it on The Fourth of July? Or, will we have to spend energy apologizing and defending the flag on that day as well? In our house, we combine Labor Day with the birthday of our soon-to-be-5-year-old: This year she’ll receive something with a red, white and blue theme. For Halloween we try to keep the Labrador in a Hippie outfit with fake arms dangling in front of her chest and a frizzy-haired wig on her head: I guess this October she’ll be going as a White House advisor. On Veterans Day we'll feel gratitude and fly the Colors. Again with the gratitude, on Thanksgiving blueberries and sour cream will sit next to cranberry stuff. Our Christmas cards, when sent, have a flag on the front—maybe we should have stocked up last year…
On Martin Luther King Day we will wonder why our elected leaders rejected George Washington’s Birthday to celebrate a black man who stressed character over color—just to have our elected leaders reject MLK by mocking character and hyping color year after year. On Presidents Day we will ponder many…and honor a few. Valentine’s Day will see a red heart on a blue field with white letters saying I love you. On St. Patrick’s Day I will drink one green beer; then one red beer, one white beer and one blue beer.
On Mother’s Day I will kiss my daughter’s mom, who looks so great in her Tea-Party t-shirt; and I will honor the memory of a caring and generous woman who would have slapped the punk out of any assistant principal who sent her boy home for wearing the Red, White, and Blue.
On Father’s Day…. for the children…I will try to be the best American I can possibly be.
On the next Cinco de Mayo we will settle down with pork chops and watch cable as…

George Washington Endorsed The FairTax in 1774
President Obama won't release any of his college papers. I will release the following one-page college paper from 2000 on the future political realignment of 2010-2020...just to show the president that it's alright to let other people know what you really believe...and so others may learn what I did about George Washington and The FairTax.
It was Spring of 2000, my first semester on the GI Bill: I had spent 7 years in the army fighting communism under Reagan and Bush, and then 6 years in a big truck observing capitalism in 48 states and Canada. I was 37 years old sitting with 300 freshman in POLS 2311-American Government. The Bush-Gore election was a semester away, the Clinton-Lewinsky erection was long passed. Rodney King's riots were a recent event, O.J. was a free man, and it was still okay to say "Merry Christmas." For some reason diesel cost less than unleaded back then...
Here are the instructions followed by my paper verbatim [minus some middle paragraphs cut for your benefit...not for my embarrassment].
First extra-credit project (5 points max): In class we have discussed the idea of a political realignment. Typically, these happen about every 30 years (or so). Most political scientists believe the last realignment in America politics happened during the 1980s. That would mean that the next one might be expected sometime between the year 2010 and 2020. Write a one or two-page essay describing what you believe the next political realignment will be. Your answer should demonstrate your familiarity with the idea of a political realignment, and with our discussions and readings.
Realignment of the Electorate Based on a Theory of Taxation
The next movement by American voters from one party to the other will be traced to a specific issue, not a general distaste for one of the parties. The issue behind this colossal shift will be taxation.
In today's political arena, and for the foreseeable future, the parties are split, funded, populated and followed or not, based on one of two general views, conservative or liberal. In general. there is no shortage of contempt for the one view by the other, while there are many who will stick to an issue regardless of the view from which it is derived. [...]
A recent trend toward welfare reform has and will continue to create individual achievers out of formerly dependant citizens. The majority of these citizens will necessarily find a surge in their self worth and ambition. Many will wish to, as the campaigners say, "keep more of what they earn." By the decade of 2010-2020 this oft-used campaign phrase will have become real to more of our Washington representatives.
I foresee an individual or group of elected officials with mass appeal putting taxation in front of all other agendas coming from Washington. Somehow the majority of recent calls for tax cuts and a flat tax and IRS reform will pale in comparison to the enthusiasm generated for a complete overhaul of the tax structure of the United States.
Francis Bacon said, "neither should it be, that a people overlaid with taxes should ever become valiant or martial." People of this age have adopted a mind-set of chasing dollars and competing against each other (in their own spheres of influence) for status and position, with little regard to Washington's taxation for profit operations. Most producers are simply too busy existing and enjoying success to give any effort to serious political discourse and reason. Elected officials enjoy a favorable position; there exists a quiet tyranny in this country, and it will be quietly displaced.
The republican Party is the only party (excepting a successful third party) that can become the home for a true tax system overhaul. Democrats have fed off millions of voters who feel the need for, or in reality need, the federal government on a daily basis. The people dependant upon the Democrats and/or the federal bureaucracies are now shrinking in number and local influence. Politicians have recently switched to the Republican Party while in mid-term, and even the media allow the mention of states rights, and devolving power to the states.
George Washington wrote, as influenced by others, in the Fairfax County Resolves of 1774:
6. Resolved, That taxation and representation are in their nature
inseparable; that the right of withholding or of giving and granting their own
money, is the only effectual security to a free people, against the
encroachments of despotism and tyranny; and that whenever they yield the one,
they must quickly fall prey to the other.
There is a bill submitted to congress that will put the power of "withholding or of giving and granting thier own money" back to individuals. It is the FairTax Bill and involves three phases. The current income tax code would be eliminated, a single rate tax on all final sales and services would be instituted and a constitutional amendment that would repeal the 16th Amendment, making the federal income tax unconstitutional...again.
The Republican Party will achieve a huge increase in support from formerly Democrat Party faithful, because the Republican Party will adopt the FairTax legislation.

[I got all 5 points! Let us hope the change we see in our elected officials of 2010-2020 involves their dedication to the FairTax!]

Not Racists, Not Marxists, Not Socialists...
Racism is a waste of time, except to some TV networks: There it provides a rare example of investigative journalism, when convenient. We talk to people not their skin. We'd love to BBQ, go fishing or play chess with Walter Williams or Thomas Sowell. We admire good people and we study great people regardless of race. We also oppose tyrannical people...in the spirit of the Declaration of Independence...without regard to race, class, or gender.
Marxism is a waste of life, usually millions of them: It is a form of government that ignores the individual. It considers history untainted by great people or ideas. It is stagnant at best and always murderous without regard to race, class or gender. Marxism has never succeeded beyond its first step: To destroy capitalism.
Socialism is a waste of money, always other people's money: At some point it becomes a crime. We think a group of well-dressed people in a big white house deciding how to spend the fruits of our children's labor for generations to come...well, we don't want to sound racist or anything, but that sounds like slavery to Tea Partiers...and that's against our Constitution.
We can lose the foundation of our country to racism, Marxism or Socialism. That's why the country worked through racism long ago, except on some TV networks. That's why Marxism and Socialism will never be welcomed here, except on some TV networks.
A Tea Party is nothing more than an unwelcome mat in front of our American Dream telling Marxists to go away. Freedom-loving souls are always welcome at any Tea Party without regard to...

Soviets Outline US School Curriculum in 1971...
Exposing Imperialist Policies is dated January 21, 1971 and it lists events in U.S. History...from a Marxist perspective. Moscow wanted to stress these events in order to "force our ideological enemy [The USA] onto disadvantageous paths in the ideological struggle."
I've enjoyed the study of history all my life to include graduate school. When I first read this list in 2006 I understood that generations of American school kids have learned much of their American History from a man named A. Takovlev (I wonder if he's still alive). He was Assistant Chief of the Propaganda Department and sent "Attachment 170 Calendar of Certain Events" to the Central Committee in 1971 for their review.
You can review this document almost 40 years after the Central Committee did and then review the textbooks in your local schools or college courses. And then think waaaayy back to see if you're historical education came from Moscow...

How Will America Sleep Tonight?
I'm one of those generically guilt-ridden souls and that robs me of sleep. I think I could have done something more, something to help others pass on our traditional America. I should be excited to give my daughter what my parents gave me-what the Founders gave us all. Instead, I'm ashamed to have watched her future crumble, rather, that I've simply watched an ideology crumble her future. She might grow up to learn first hand what our Congress doesn't know: That like good and evil, capitalism creates and communism destroys. Does it really matter why? The sun rises in the east, sets in the west and further debate won't change that... Of course, we were forced to debate whether the sun or man makes the earth cooler and warmer until a hoax was uncovered, hmmm.... Can we debate the proven failures of communism some more or have our leaders decided it's just fine for America? I believe the majority of Americans will accept communism only when the sun rises over the Santa Monica Pier and sets on the Hudson.
Who slept better, historically speaking? Soviet citizens who had survived their government, or American citizens who had created their government? I know the Chinese now make all of our sleepwear, but who sleeps better...Americans who can change their government or Chinese who can only change the diaper of one baby before aborting any others. Do Cubans sleep better in Miami or Havana?
While I wasn't sleeping last night I composed a mental list of communist milestones during my lifetime, then I shortened it to my personal experience with communism, but that will be a future post...I have to wait for congress to see whether my last personal experience with communism was in 1990s Europe, or will it be here in my daughter's America, on 3/21/2010.

Remembering George and Joe
George was responsible for the deaths of thousands--invaders and tyrants all. Joe ordered that millions should die--farmers and teachers and all others who opposed Joe's cumbersome ideology. Ideology was simple for George and harmless to his fellow countrymen-freedom.
For centuries now generations have prayed for the return of a man like George Washington...
Almost ten years after Joseph Stalin died Yevgeni Yevtushenko published a poem in the communist party newspaper: Heirs of Stalin ends this way...
Grimly clenching his embalmed fists, just pretending to be dead, he
watched from inside. He was scheming. He had merely dozed off.
And I, appealing to our government, petition them to double, and
treble, the sentries guarding the slab, and stop Stalin from ever rising
again.
Those words were published in 1962, about the time Ronald Reagan warned the American people against socialized, government-controlled health care: Reagan would switch his party allegiance from Democrat to Republican that same year.
Ronald Reagan is as close to George Washington as we have come...
Barrack Obama is as close to Joseph Stalin as we want to get...
